Camejo
Before I get accused of anything, let me quickly add to my last post that
Camejo made a fairly respectable account of himself on the CNN/Judy
Woodruff "Inside Politics" show yesterday (or was it Wednesday?). In
contrast to her interview with Peter Ueberroth the day before, which
focussed almost entirely on "horse race" issues, the interview with Camejo
was almost entirely issue-oriented, with Peter taking the opportunity to be
expansive (in a good way) in his answers. I still don't see much evidence of
the spark that leads ex-SWP comrades to think of him as one of the all-time
great orators, but he makes a very credible candidate. Just not in any
significant way a socialist one; based on what he SAYS in public (forgetting
about what he may or may not think in private), he's no more presenting a
socialist program than is Arianna Huffington or Dennis Kucinich.
