I don't get this - how can Ticktin accuse others of
'reducing Marxism to economism' when his point seems
to be that we face NOT a crisis of the hegemon, NOT a
crisis of the energy-base, but a crisis of capitalist
economy? Surely these levels are not exclusive and
either/or, but are all imbricated in some way, and I
would argue that the links are not just fortuitous or
contingent, but have deeper, material connections. At
any rate, you can't just ignore them as Ticktin does,
which is just dumbing down debate. We're all
Marxists, we all know about the 'iron laws of
capital'.
