German Foundations/Re: Chavez asks regon referendum on debt to imperialists
Somehow I doubt the old warrior was responsible for
this. Rather, this is a reference to the Konrad
Adenauer Stiftung [Foundation]. KAS is a thinktank
run by the CDU, so it is hardly surprising such a
report should exist. All political parties in Germany
that have won representation in the Bundestag for more
than two terms are entitled to a state-funded
'foundation', the level of funding depending on
representation (although this has been a very sore
point of politics with the arrival of the Greens and,
in particular, the PDS). The SPD has the Friedrich
Ebert Stiftung, PDS has the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung,
the Greens have the Heinrich Böll Stiftung and the FDP
Friedrich Naumann Foundation. As would be expected,
these foundations' activities more or less match up
with the political trajectories of their parent
parties.
