Lou,

I and (I am sure) everyone else are missing the American connection - hope
all the New York comrades are well and did not have too terrifying an
experience.

I have read the stuff on de-regulation etc.  Yet I frankly have trouble
comprehending how an advanced capitalist nation can make such a mess out of
a business.  Everything depends on electricity - surely there must be some
heads to roll for this? I know that sounds naive and of course it is.  But
just lately I have been thinking of the absolute incompetence of the ruling
class. An incompetence defined purely on their own terms - the ability to
generate profit. Look though at the staggering mess in Iraq for example and
now this blackout.

Only more of this lies ahead.
