Dean and his success
I think on this list I mused a while back about my failure to understand why
Dean why so successful (thus far anyway) in the Presidential race. The
standard "he's the master of the Internet" explanation didn't seem to me to
explain the whole thing.
Tonight I'm listening to Dennis Bernstein interviewing Alexander Cockburn on
his show Flashpoints on the subject of the Israeli lobby and its power
(e.g., in dumping Cynthia McKinney from Congress). As part of this show, I
learned what I hadn't known before, that key people in Dean's campaign come
from AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee).
Googling on "Dean AIPAC" produced this hit (and many others, which I didn't
pursue), which is worth reading if you want to learn more about Dean,
Israel, and AIPAC:

Not that I think many (any) people on this list were going to vote for him,
but it's always helpful for political discussions to have facts like these
on hand.
