RE: SWP policy on Cuba
I find your remarks here to be patronizing and covertly insulting. They
add offer no strategic or critical analysis to the discussion. You may
criticize, without criticizing, all you like, you may refute, without
reasoning all you like. I suspect that a comedian making a parody of my
comments would go over well among the reactionary public whose views on
this seem to be much in line with yours. Generally speaking, when one is
stereotyped negatively in context of opposing capitalist politics one is
doing something right. ;-)
The greatest danger to a movement is not its opposition, but the effect
that opposition has on the movement. This list seems to be a good
example of that axiom. If this list is a reflection of the generalized
movement, we're in TROUBLE! I'm glad I'm here to witness this.

Response Jim C: I have been on this list since its inception. And I have had
more than a few run-ins with various "Members" of the list without resorting
to comments about the assumed nature of the whole list itself.
Your comments, and stilted formulaics and jargon remind me of what,
according to Chinese oral histories, Lao-Tze is alleged to have said to
Confucius when he applied to become Lao-Tze's student: "You have a big mouth
and think too much of yourself; you need to become prepared to learn before
applying to learn."
On this list, are comrades who live under real conditions of life-and-death
and have spent many years putting their own lives and the lives of their
families on the line given the types of systems under which they live and
the concrete struggles in which they have been involved and are involved.
You need to get real and less pompous or you and your kind are the problem
not the whole list.
Jim C.
