Re: Intellectuals & Cuba
There were people called dissidents in the USSR and socialist Eastern
Europe who now wish things had turned out differently--things they
helped happen. They know life was better before for the masses. It is
tragic.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the Communist Party of Cuba operates far
more "democratically" than the Eastern European CPs did before The
Fall. It is also a dynamic organization in defense of the revolution
that is under constant, vicious, deadly duress. What are the
consequences? It is remarkable that individuals there in the Party have
remained so steadfastly committed to the principles of the revolution
and socialism under such oppressive conditions.
I agree with whoever it was who announced:
"Within the revolutuion everything; without the revolution, nothing."
If you are against the revolution... well, I think you can figure it
out.
