Re: Prostitution in Cuba (To Walter L.),

Yes, indeed it is, but it's 'an adventure'. I do work in a power plant, the
participants of such adventures are single, young, and with a lot more
disposable income than me or the other married types there. It's cheap to
fly to Mexico City or Veracruz...there are groups, 'tourist agencies', that
specialize in these tours to Cuba, Santo Domingo and Panama. Among straight
youth, working class or not, this apparently is a big deal, sort of like a
post-univerity spring break, but instead of Cancun or Panama City, Florida,
it's Santo Domingo, Havana or Manilia. News of this spreads by word of
mouth. It seems, however, that the Philippines, despite being about 3 times
more expensive to get to, is still the preferred choice. I think the appeal
of Cuba is that it's more "adventurist", more illicit, since it's forbidden
to go there...but PI is still the main choice, where the sex industry is
well established and more...professional.

Hey, no bad words about Homer Simpson, hero to power plant workers
world-wide (BTW, I marched with CGT Power Plant Workers in June in Paris
during the big strikes...lots' fun, lot's of Homer Simpson decals...)
