Re.: Prostitution in Cuba
The irony, for me anyway, is that capitalist intrusions have produced
any prostitution problem there might be in Cuba. Street prostitution
far more flagrant in Santiago de CHile than in Santiago de CUba. In
Providencia, a comparatively well-off residential/commercial area in
Santiago de Chile, one of my gringolandian appearance can encounter
corners of ladies of the evening, some of whom are not quite female, who
suggest temporary trists, for a fee. But Eighth Avenue near Times Square
can present comparable commerce.
I know I needn't remind fellow Marxists about Lenin's admonitions to the
sanctimonious bourgeoisie about how to counter prostitution. We could
just chortle snarkily among ourselves about the idiocy of pups like
Powell, but we really should address these issues with others not so
apprised. In fact, perhaps the primary purpose for such a list as this
could be to gather information for the propaganda struggle.
