but surely it contributed to the actual rise of capitalism in europe,
no???

i don't see what there is to argue about. historians agree huge
influxes of gold and silver into spain were re-distributed throught
credit/banking centers throughtout all of europe.

capitalist social relations didn't just spring out of thin air fully
formed, eh?
