Semicolonial and colonial resistences
Those interested in the Iraqi situation today should get some insight
from the article I sent on the Argentinean situation in 1955. True,
in Argentina there were no foreign troops, but the 1955 government
and the Armed Forces that installed it acted as an occupation regime
against its own people.
The long and heroic story of popular resistence to this regime, as
well as the massive crimes that the anti-Peronists inflicted on the
population, is unknown abroad, and I guess that many things that are
happening in Iraq today will only be known many years ahead, when
Iraqi historians begin to tell the whole history of the resitance
anew.
