Re: John Cleese (and imperialist humour)
Cleese is the most right-wing of the Pythons.
The others had a hand in writing the flicks, too.
I cannot now launch into a history of them all,
but Cleese was quite happy to vault into pro-business commercials
and, from what I recall, training seminar type videos,
of all things. But, I say, he is a big clown, afterall, chaps, wot?
And there are no rules for our laughter...
We can find another layer of humour in Fawlty etc.
I fondly recall the two peasants clapping together clumps of mud
when along comes the King (Holy Grail sort of chap):
"I am your KING!"
"Ere! And who made YOU king!?
"Some bloody strumpet in a pond waving a sword?"
I died on that one,
fakkin doid, mate!
