UN
George Bush and Tony Blair are flouting the United Nations by bombing
the Iraqis allegedly to teach them that they must not flout the United
Nations. I read that resolution 1441 was only passed on the written
agreement that it did not support war against Iraq. To point out the
hypocrisy involved and to at least damage the Bush and especially
Blair morale the call for invoking resolution 377 could be very
worthwhile, like the ongoing legal and constitutional challenge to the
American use of Shannon airport on the grounds of Irish neutrality. Of
course it might be very dangerous for any country which initiated
proceedings, whether it belongs to the "axis of evil" or not. Isn't
that a measure of its importance? Perhaps for the threatened nations
such a political attack would help in defence.
Just thinking out loud.
James Daly.
