Euro fleets in the Gulf?
Euro fleets are the fleets of the Euro, never forget. One of the
dimensions of this war is the Euro itself. So that let us put it this
way: if you were the American Admiral in charge, the commander on the
spot, in sunny Qatar, would you feel happy that Euro fleets are near
your own fleet? Or, at the very least, you would be muttering dirty
words about "these f*g European b*rds who will add work to my already
crammed agenda"?
My bets are on the second possibility. If I am right, then we may be
witnessing not only the beginnings of the break up of the United
Nations, but also the final disruption of the post-WW2 world.
The whole global architecture was dominated, after 1945, by the joint
effort of the imperialist bourgeoisies to quell the colonial revolt
and to destroy what they saw as the prime source for rebelliousness,
the resilience of the Soviet Union.
More than ten years have elapsed since the moment when the Soviet
Union melted down in a nightmare of genocidal decimation, blood and
tragedy. The former (European) allies of the US are now contesting,
though in a characteristical cowardly manner, Anglo-American global
domination, and the fSU, on the military as well as other grounds, is
desperatly trying to board the European boat, so as to escape the
Asian, Third World, sinkhole.
Both as a friendly gesture towards France and Germany, and as a
defiant grunt from what still must be taken into account as a
military power, the deployment of the Russian fleet tries to sound as
an European, Continental voice in the Middle East. If the German and
French fleets follow suit (which I doubt, but...), then we shall have
a full scenario of what will the 21st Century look like.
