Re: barbarity of air war
If a US soldier gets killed in action, the Homeland suffers.
The media swoops down
upon the family and town.
Interviews with friends,
fotos of the victim as a child,
it is sad.
I was saddened meeting Howard Johnson II's parents
electronically. A fresh young man/boy snuffed by juggernauts
that barely recognized his existence, monsters to whom he
and other victims and their families pledged allegiance.
But in Iraq there are people in the armed services, too,
whose friends and families, baby cousins and aged aunts
are sliced screaming by hurtling, ragged blades from America.
Iraqi army men are massacred by storms of exploding metal.
They have families and friends as well
who will only be injured,
only traumatized.
The waves of torment bounce off the walls of time
and will return.
There will be no victory
but Death.
