RE: Re: (Under)estimating your enemy - correction
Pace Tom O'Lincoln, there is no general strike here in the Spanish
state: ¡ojalá! (I wish!) There IS a call for a two hour (!) general
strike for 10 April by one of the main federations (the social
democratic UGT), a call, sadly, not supported by the other principal
federation, the Communist CC.OO on the grounds, and I loosely quote,
that a general strike is a *workers'* instrument, which would not serve
in widening the social movements in which workers participate with
students, small businessmen, pensioners, and the like, and would in fact
distract (!) from the central aim of stopping the war. (!!) (The full
text of CC.OO's (shameful) decision can be read in castellano at
<http://www.ccoo.es/publicaciones/docsindicales/280303_declaracion_fidalgo.htm>)
Steps forwards and steps back ...
More on the Spanish state shortly.
