RE: Thick fog around Baghdad

Steven wrote about Iraqis MIGs. It is indeed possible they will emerge
from hiding and inflict serious damage on American forces. For all I
know, it's also possible that they either don't really exist, or were
secretly transferred to Iran (am I remembering correctly that that's
what happened in the last war?) or Syria to prevent them being
destroyed (though what purpose that would serve I don't know).

And Gary wrote: But I tend to agree with Elisha that we are witnessing
the last days of this war.

Actually I don't think that at all. I don't know whether the war will
be over soon or will last for weeks, months, or years into the future.
My basic point was the same as the one that Lou made: "I personally
am restraining my expectations". Excess optimism as to the
possibility of American losses serves no purpose. And, of course, I
also agree with Lou's corollary point - that we have to continue our
fight against this war in any case, no matter which predictions are
right or wrong. What exactly we are fighting for ("End the invasion!"
or "End the occupation!") may change, but our struggle will still be with
us for quite some time to come no matter what.
