Arundhati Roy
An extraordinary piece of writing, summing up the entire war situation in
one brilliant article, from Arundhati Roy:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,927849,00.html
Among the images, the UN as the world's janitor, a Philippino cleaning
lady, is one of the most memorable.
Another nice line, where you can easily substitute the word "socialists"
for the words "the peace movement":
It's odd how those who dismiss the peace movement as utopian, don't
hesitate to proffer the most absurdly dreamy reasons for going to war:
to stamp out terrorism, install democracy, eliminate fascism, and most
entertainingly, to "rid the world of evil-doers".
