Subject: Terrorist operations in Iraq
The Washington Post is now reporting that a group of terrorists is operation
in Iraq ready to plant car bombs and so on:
...
"The covert teams, from the CIA's paramilitary division and the military's
special operations group, include snipers and demolition experts schooled in
setting house and car bombs. They have reportedly killed more than a handful
of individuals, according to one knowledgeable source. They have been in
operation for at least one week."
Our Brit comrades may complain about it, but gawd, am I glad to have
access to BBC broadcasts!
Not only because instead of the prominent "Operation Iraqi Freedom"
mastheads of US broacasters, the BBC sports a discrete, lower-right
screen square with the words "Iraq War", but it at least tries to keep
some journalistic independence and professionalism.
Case in point: tonight MSNBC reported that "Coalition" forces had
bombed a house in Basra where "Saddam's 'terror squads'" were meeting.
The BBC on the other hand reported, a few minutes later, that a "Baath
party meeting in Basra" had been bombed.
So, to our British comrades, cut the ole BBC a bit of a break!
= Juan
PS: MSNBC also reported that Iraqi forces had "kidnapped" two coalition
soldiers...Gee, the last time I checked, combatants being taken by
opposing combatants in war was called "capture".
