Anti-war Donahue news talkshow cancelled
MSNBC has just announced they're immediately
cancelling Donahue's primetime news hour, which they
hoped would be a liberal counterweight to Fox's "The
O'Reilly Factor". With any flaws the show had, it was
the main primetime show on a major news station that
had a firm and consistent anti-war backbone to it,
often having lefty guests like Michael Moore and Rosie
O'Donnell on the show. It sucks that the millions of
ordinary people of mainstream America that watched
this show aren't going to have it anymore.
They said the reason for cancelling it was because of
its inability to compete with "The O'Reilly Factor".
This may be so, but one wonders if the show's politics
had anything to do with it. I watched it last night
when Rosie O'Donnell was the guest, and it was
basically an energetic anti-war forum, spelling out
all the convincing arguments that show the ideological
shallowness of this war.
To make up the hour, they're going to extend the prior
show, one of those "Target: Iraq" bullshit propaganda
pieces, to two hours. (sigh).
