"What is the evidence of this anti-Americanism?"
Alex, first on a technical note. Could you post to Marxmail using a 72
character line? When I try to reply to your message, the text goes off
the far right end and is difficult to follow. I think we are speaking
about slightly different phenomena. My concern was with the term
anti-Americanism itself. It is an utterly meaningless term from an
historical materialist standpoint. It is devoid of class content. The
problem I was identifying in Hardt has little to do with your admittedly
genuine concerns. Hardt was referring to the kind of "anti-Americanism"
that people like David Corn and Michael Berube talk about, which is
interpreted as hatred of CNN, the NY skyline, Disneyland, etc. For my
money, this is the kind of hatred that I walk around with 24 hours a day.
