INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE INTERNATONAL DAY AGAINST THE WAR
-  FEBRUARY 15  IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Dear Comrades and Friends,
warmest revolutionary and anti-war greetings from the Communist
Youth Union (KSM) of the Czech Republic. We would like to shortly
inform you about the Czech February 15 - the International Day
against the War, which was declared by the Europen Social Forum in
Florence.
In the Czech Republic were demonstrations against the war in three
cities - in Ostrava, Brno and in Prague. Naturally, the biggest
anti-war actions were in the Czech capital city - Prague.
Unfortunately, the anti-war movement in our country is not united.
That is why were in Prague two different demonstrations. First one
was organize by the Initiative against the war. It is alliance of
different groups, mainly of students of Pragues´universities and
KSM is now also active in this block. On this demonstrations was
only some hundreds of people and not many demonstrants joined a
march to the Government of the Czech Republic, which followed,
becouse they wanted to join another one demonstration. The second
demonstration, which was organize mainly by the Communist Party of
Bohemia and Moravia, placed in Wenceslaw Square, the biggest
square in Prague. There were about three thousands of
demonstrants. On this demonstartion spoke chairman of the
Communist Party, chairman of the KSM, chairwoman of the Clubs of
Left Woman, leader of Iraqian Communist Party in the Czech
Republic and other. After demonstration followed militant march
through the Old Town - historical centre of Prague and
Charles´Bridge to the Embassy of the United States. We had big
figurine of George Bush IInd and many transparents for peace and
against the war. Main slogans were: "War against war!", "We want a
peace!", "No man for Bush!", "Stop the war!" and so on. Before
embassy demonstratnts sang International and communist leaders
handed declaration of demonstrants, which was accepted before.
February 15 actions were biggest actions against the war and
militarism in the Czech Republic after international
demonstrations against the NATO Summit in Nowember last year. We
think is very important to continue in building of this anti-war
movement  and figt together with people or the world to stop the
war.
