Re: Blaut's book
On posting Blaut's book:
Various experiments that have been done by authors indicate that, at least
for back list titles, publishing on the Internet the entire book *increases*
sales of the dead-tree versions. O'Reilly has done the same thing for some
of its titles. Some musicians have reported similar experiences. This is
what Roger McGuin told a Congressional hearing on Napster a couple of years
ago, and recently Janis Ian wrote an op-ed for the LA Times saying the
direct orders to her web site tripled when she started posting MP3's of her
songs.
So I would think Zed would do it themselves and send out to one of these
short-run shops an order for a few hundred copies.
