Re: Why I Stand with ANSWER
I don't think it is unfair, however, to refer to ANSWER as a WWP front
organization. That much seems quite clear. That said, I don't really
care. They are organizing well, even if I disagree with WWP on a vast
array of things. What I don't understand are two things:
1. In Todd Gitlin's book, "The Whole World Is Watching," about SDS and
the Anti-War movement, Gitlin creates a list of common media tactics
used to discredit the anti-vietnam war movement. One of the key tactics
in the book was "emphasizing the presence of communists." He certainly
has pulled a 180.
2. In the Corn article, it mentions someone shouting "Stalinist!" at
someone from WWP as they were speaking, and also someone else referring
to them as "Maoist." This is a common mixup, but as far as I knew WWP
are Trots.
