President Chavez Frias launches Plan Zamora
President Hugo Chavez Frias has launched his agricultural plan, dubbed "Plan
Zamora" which saw the Venezuelan leader award titles to 120,000 hectares of
land to 2,400 families in Barinas State, where he himself was born.
The President said that this was just the first phase of the plan that will
eventually result in 1.461 million hectares of land being awarded to move
than 100,000 families.
"Today is a historic day the marks the beginning of a new stage of
Venezuelan
development," the President said while visiting the town of San Lucia, 550
kilometers south west of Caracas.
"There is absolutely no reason for Venezuelans to go hungry while there is
so
much abandoned land. The time of the people is upon us, after 200 years of
clamoring for justice. There is no going back for this revolution. This year
will be difficult, but positive for us."
