More on Gretta Duisenberg

RIJSWIJK - The Wiesenthal Centre has asked Dutch Premier Balkenende and
secretary-general Solana of the European Commission to withdraw the
diplomatic passport of Gretta Duisenberg, wife of Wim Duisenberg, the Dutch
chief of the European Central Bank.

Gretta, who is an outspoken advocate of the Palestinian cause, was able to
meet with Yasser Arafat recently. According to the Wiesenthal Centre, she
has no right to the diplomatic passport after her "continuous anti-semitic
and hate campaign" against Israel.

"The Dutch government can no longer look the other way", according to rabbi
Marvin Hier of the Wiesenthal Centre, which says it combats racism and
anti-semitism. "Her vulgar campaign smears the legacy of Anne Frank and all
the other Dutch people who suffered under the Nazi's."

In saying this, the rabbi referred to statements which Duisenberg made to
the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper on Friday. She said to the newspaper that the
Israeli occupation of Palestine territories was worse than the Nazi
occupation of Holland, except for the Holocaust. Later Duisenberg made
excuses to those who felt hurt by her specific formulations, but stated that
she refused to retract any of the content of what she had said.
