But the key issue for saocialists in the West is the fact that our
rulers are trying to whip up jingoism with a large element of anti-Arab

Also the US has no interest in a democratic Iraq. Their real war-plans -
revealed already in some of the bourgeois media - amount to nothing more
than removing Saddam and replacing him with some of his former allies
who fell out with him while essentially retaining the existing
repressive system. This doesn't sound like a great improvement for the
Iraqi people.

Certainly a real democratic Iraq wouldn't exactly have any reason to be
very keen on the US, a country that called for the population to rise in
1991 and when it did left them to be massacred by Saddam, because it was
more scared of a popular revolution than the continued rule of a "tamed"
Saddam.
