OPEC expresses solidarity with Venezuela.

Following the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries' (OPEC) meeting
in Vienna on Thursday, the Organization expressed its solidarity with
Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).

In a statement issued by the group, members said "we are all profoundly
concerned over the reports of unrest in Venezuela that are the result of
actions taken by a small minority with the intention of destroying their
constitutional and legitimate government."

The OPEC members also made it clear that if it became necessary, they are
prepared to help out PDVSA by supplying its domestic and international
clients." (Friday, December 13, 2002)
