more on Hitchens
Jurriaan makes some good points about Hitchens. he is what might be called
an "inorganic intellectual,"having no connection to the working class. he is
a type of intellectual capitalism produces. I used to enjoy reading his
columns in The Nation back in the 80s. I don't think he was ever anything
beyond a left liberal. he was never a socialist.
I briefly mentioned that he has a brother who is a traditional rightwing
British nationalist who writes for some English paper, don't know which one.
my comment about genetics was a joke. perhaps someone can give a brief bio
on Hitchens. how did he begin his life as an inorganic intellectual? was it
in the New Statesman?
