US Profit Rates Decline Despite Productivity Growth.
The reason:
the very
nature of the capitalist system, its dependence upon
the
extraction of
surplus labor from the world's working population.
This gives
the current
situation a context. Same problems are overtaking all
other
industrial
nations. This is a pretty good *succint* explanation
of why,
though of
course a book is necessary for a full, coherent
discussion.
