It's Lula (like duh....)



I think Jose is generally correct, but the differences between the two
countries should be noted, and they are substantial as the difference
between Chavez and Lula, both of whom come out of very different traditions
and with historically very different visions.

Secondly, the PT is not homogenous. As Lula said today, "20 to 30 percent of
the PT is radical, but it's the 70% that support our party's policies". What
he referring to is the internal chaos of the PT over the last number of
years by socialists who oppose the right wing drift of the PT, in fact,
toward the positions of the British Labour Party. Elected members of the PT
have been expelled for refusing to vote for privatization policies of PT
lead municipal gov'ts, and like in Britain, there is a 10 year struggle over
the heart and soul of the PT vis-à-vis the Party's historic commitment to
democratic socialism. The fat lady has indeed not yet sung...
