Re: How the AP reported today's demonstration
There were at least 150,000 people there. Most "guesstimates" I've seen
from people there were between 150,000 and 200,000.
It was weird...Coming back, we turned on NPR. They had a reporter in
San Francisco, who was clearly impressed and giving glowing praise. He
said there were 50,000 people, "totally peaceful," "of all races and
ethnic groups," etc. Their correspondent in DC either A) got there
really, really late or B) decided to stay home and make the whole thing
up with some background noise. She said there were "less than 10,000"
and that the protestors "were to the left of the organizers, and
supported sanctions rather than war" (!). Utter horseshit.
Washington Post this morning is reporting 100,000, most other sites
I've seen are just saying "Tens of thousands." No word from ANSWER yet.
