CBS News reports a small victory over Bush's oil war drive, but we still a way to go and stay alert!

CBS News tonight, Mon. Oct 21, reported the war Bush has planned may be off
for at least 4 or 5 months because public opinion domestic and international
has forced him to go through the UN before he can start the war.  This us a
small victory but it is due to the big global effort of folks marching,
shouting, talking and writing letters and emails and vigils outside offices
across the nation.

It would seem odd that Bush has to step back after just herding a vote
through both the Senate and House of Representatives.  I think his reversal
is real and if not a diversion, exposes Congress and political process as
irrelevant and out of touch with our real lives and with global public
opinion.  I heard that retired US Marine General Anthony Zinni, a former
commander of all US forces in the Middle East called Bush crazy for not
understanding what it would mean to the Islam populations to have a US
occupation force inside Iraq.  This is not insignificant.  The military
brass realize they will be the ones to take the heat for any political
disasters the evil three (Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld) create:  the ghost of
Vietnam when their war machine failed to operate is fresh in their minds and
they do not want a repeat.  That is why we must keep up our outreach to the
military bases around the country.

This is no time to step back, but to go forward more boldly.  We still have
an illegal president, a fascist internal Justice Dept to stop.  We should
appreciate the momentum we have established in the past months and roll on
to even greater issues and success.  We must make sure this war does not
come back in a few months with some hoax of a provocation like a Gulf of
Tonkin incident.  The fox is wounded and may try a sneak move so stay alert
and ready to move into higher action.
