At first we might think that US imperialism's quantum leap
in commitment to Southwest Asia would pull resources away
rom Latin America.  That did not happen in Chile during
the Vietnam War.  If anything, it might make US reaction
more peremptory

--domestically, too.

One reactionary US anticommunist declared
(to me, in a somewhat threatening correspondence)
that the War will present an excellent opportunity
to sort out some problems at home.
I did not ax him "What War?"

It seems the contradictions are heightening.
We need mutual internationalism now more than ever.
