re: SWP and October 6 (Correction)
The October 21 issue of the Militant contains this statement:: "At an
October 6 action opposing the U.S. rulers' preparations for war against the
peoples of the Mideast, another bought subscriptions to the Militant and
more than $200 in books by revolutionary leaders." The article also refers
to sakes at "an action in Seattle the same day. All 71 copies of the paper
that the socialists brought to the rally were sold." The next paragraph
refers to "an action in Seattle the same day." The reference occurs on page
5, in the sixth paragraph of an article entitled, "Oct, 12-20 target week
will feature special regional sales teams." I may have missed a similar
reference here and there in previous issues.
The meeting I referred to, featuring Jack Barnes and Mary-Alice Waters among
others, will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, November 2 at the Frank
Altschul Auditorium, 420 W. 118th St. on the Columbia University campus in
New York City. I imagine a donation will be requested at the door.
Of course, if the SWP does not support antiwar protests, they will not
publicize them among workers with whom they have contact or influence. That
task devolves upon those who think these actions are important and positive.
Another reason not to spend much time discussing or bashing SWP policies.
