    OCTOBER 26 PROTEST IN PUERTO RICO FOR VIEQUES & AGAINST WAR


In solidarity with the Vieques Walkathon in New York City and the anti-war
protest in Wahington, DC  on October 26, many organizations in Puerto Rico
have united to call for a protest. The event will be held at the National
Guard General Headquarters located at the Plaza De Las Americas in Roosevelt
Roads. The theme of the protest is for world peace as opposed to U.S.
aggression against Iraq and for the immediate withdrawal of the U.S. Navy in
Vieques.

Puerto Rico protest organizers have expressed that "a war on Iraq in
actuality is a war on the entire planet, including the Puerto Rican people.
To grant President George W. Bush unlimited powers to militarily attack any
region in the world, will be used as the justification for the Navy to
remain in Vieques. Since the 1940's, U.S. Navy bombing practices occur in
Vieques, Puerto Rico precisely for military intervention in other countries.

Avenue, in New York City. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. - Events of the
