Re: Mormon church makes anti-war statement
That's about what one would normally expect from you, Stuart Elliott --
whose only creativity lies in a unique mix of shallow-creek "knowledge,"
superciliousness, and bigotry. The other day, during the discussion of the
American South, I asked a member of this list if he'd ever lived in the
South. Never got a formal answer on that one. A reasonable question to you
might be, ever go to an LDS church service? This is all the sort of thing
that explains far better than a ton of tomes just why some ostensible
"radicals" can never relate to the grassroots of this country -- or any
other.
The important thing here , of course, is that an extremely large religious
denomination -- 11 million globally with a very significant membership in
the now relatively conservative American West -- has taken a clear and
strong position against War -- and with an explicit recognition of the
common theological roots of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
