Re: Mormon church makes anti-war stateme
I've been struck in Australia by the high profile of churches, both in support
of refugees (a big issue here) and now anti-war organising. This is not
entirely good news: I went to an anti-war public meeting recently and was quite
irritated by its churchy flavour. But it's significant. I wish it was organised
labour making the running, but they're not as yet, and the churches are. A sort
of "combined and uneven development" I guess. Wonder if it's an international
pattern?
While I'm writing, Lou will be pleased to know that one of his posts -- on the
Indonesian massacres of Communists in 1965 -- is circulating around Indonesian
lists.
