Well of course my choice of 'suspect' indicates that my evidence is more
based on intuition than empirical data. But historically it has always been
that the working class has turned to the ALP has it not? (I am not sure
btw that the NZLP experience is the same as that of the ALP in
government. there was nothing quite like Douglas in the Australian scene).
Be that as it may, I hope you got the tone of real regret in my post. But
I think time will prove my fears and suspicions correct and that the
Australian working class' affair with the ALP is sadly not yet over.
