Please add: what is "the poorest part of the United States" after the
1940s (if not Dixie)?

The symbol on the fuselage and wings of Finnish fighter planes in 1940
is another one.  I might even compare its with some of the assumptions
associated with the Confederate Flag.
Some people might call it a swastika but it really isn't, so they say.
The swastika is another symbol, if I follow your drift, that "can mean
lots of different kinds of things to different persons.  It adds a whole
new layer to the arguments."
Also, maybe there are nice Nazis who are not so racist.

On an even lighter note: my second favourite flag is the one that is
designed exactly like the Confederate Flag but with different colours:
For the red field substitute black;
Blue = lime green;
white stars = crimson stars.

All depends upon whom you confederate with, I guess...
