Venezuela popular organizations form "movement of movements" to oppose new coup attempt

Popular Organizations Favor of Unity
and Oppose Coup Leaders

Caracas, Sept 30 (PL) A national Venezuelan meeting of
popular organizations emphasized support to national unity
in favor of President Hugo Chavez and against coup leaders.

Thus concluded the meeting of over 1500 delegates from all
over the nation that concluded Sunday with the presence of
the Head of the State, who called for the power stolen by
the oligarchy to be returned to the organized people.

Agreements of this event, which met for several days in 18
workshops, included confronting the opposition coup
conspiracy and uniting workers in a popular movement.

The program platform and some action lines were created,
taking into consideration the most conservative groups"
threat to the current process of change.

This meeting demonstrated that participating organizations
favor the workers and encourage companies to work, in light
of opposition attempts to have a strike.

The opposition called for a national strike after they "take
Caracas" on October 10.

Other agreements included imprisonment of participants in
the April 11 coup d"etat, as well as sanctions against
private mass media involved in this event.

After considering foreign debt illegitimate, participants
requested these resources to be designated for social
solutions in Venezuela and expressed their rejection of the
Free Trade of the Americas (FTAA) because it will destroy
the Latin American economies

In his speech, Chavez recalled that members of the oligarchy
are uniting to confront the people and emphasized that the
destiny of millions of Venezuelans are in danger in this
battle.

We need an organized, united and aware people to guarantee
the revolutionary process, the statesman pointed out, and
called to achieve unity for the Bolivarian Revolutionary 200
Movement (MBR-200).

According to the President, this entity would be a Movement
of movements, in which each would maintain its
characteristics and manage differences.

The opposition is threatening an October of blood, death and
coup d"etat, but we continue to say it will be agreeable, a
month of battle, work and victories, because we will be on
the streets, more united than ever, concluded Chavez.
