Re.: PBS on Argentina
Stiglitz's prescriptions remind me of Mullah Boul-boul.
Boul-boul is the Persian word for nightengale.
It is also Tehran slang for penis.
Mullah Boul-boul, of course, is not a deep nor realistic thinker.
There are many stories about his stubbourn stupidity.
The one I remember is the way he ate food:
he would never take the direct route to his mouth.
His signature delivery was to take the morsel of food
(in his right hand, of course: that was without question)
and reach back around his head, past his left cheek,
and tuck the edible item between his waiting lips.
This system made the consumption of consumé
either a frustration or a delight to observe.
To suggest that capitalism is capable, if only managed properly,
to alleviate the plight of poverty among the masses,
is to suggest that the Mullah Boul-boul method of dining
is the best way for people to eat.
Why not take to direct route?
When Mullah Stiglitz advised the capitalist regulators (IMF etc)
to invest directly in business ventures in Argentina,
thereby bypassing interest payments to those very
capitalist regulators, we are amazed. Is this actually intended
to alleviate the people's distress?
--besides being counter to the instincts of capitalismo...
When the great Nobel Prize winner encourages the USA
to open its markets, free and easy, to Argentinian goods,
again--who is this supposed to benefit? US workers?
Countries in competition with Argentina?
Argentine workers?
It is Boul-boulism.
