Re: Sept. 11, oil and conspiracies

Subject: Sept. 11, oil and conspiracies
It is so sad, on both the "pro" and "anti" "conspiracy" sides of this debate,
how few people have actually taken the "oil" thesis into a broader analysis than
simply Afghanistan. Take this:

The single most important resources to cause conflict are water and oil. These
two, intertwined as far as the dominance of the remaining parts of the American
Empire are concerened, are also the real goal- but not in just little, almost
politically irrelevant Afghanistan-- but rather a geo-political re-conquest (or
at least attempt thereof) and re-drawing of the entire Middle East. It would be
foolhardy to think that
A) they were going to go into Afghanistan alone (unfortunately becoming obvious
more and more daily with the war machine cranking over Iraq)
B) that the "War on Terror" will stop after it reaches Baghdad, should we let
that happen (and that is really up to us).
We run a real risk of becoming obscured in our own platitudes- in that we
constantly make it clear that we really approach these wars as different ones,
rather than different theatres of the same, one launched with a plan, launched
on Oct 7/01 and only just beginning here July 25 of the next year. We need to
address what we are dealing with in the entire region, and even the entire globe
over the next few years. It isn't anything that can be reformed, nor can it be
slown down (not to disregard anti-war work) due to the nature of the system
running this last gasp.
We are witnessing the _raging against the dying of the light_ of an empire that
sits upon top of a system that isn't heavily invested in by oil, nor has it's
biggest assets in oil- but in fact is made partly of it, right in the very
fabric of the society it reproduced.
Combine this, with the increasing destruction of our water supply (Israel, as I
believe part of this revanching imperial war, has stolen 85% of the Palestinian
waterways since the re-occupation). What can the bourgeois have, if not water
and oil, in this world? What is the reason for continuing to put the screws to
the entire Middle East political balance? Simple idiocy and arrogance, which for
some strange reason we can all see as idiotic but yet we convince ourselves they
do not?
I hardly think so. I too think we need to stop with the they took on the Taliban
for oil silliness, since that was only a tiny part of the over-all game they
have in mind, with alternate routes but the same end goal. The real game is to
take on- everything. I think that both Mark and the Pentagon are very aware of
the weakness of Empire. That is the reason for all of these pushes, and we need
to start realising that the US Empire is thrashing about in her death throes.
Frankly, I think not that the world can sustain the amount of time needed for
the death dance to wind down and finish. I don't see a China take over, but I'm
prepared to submit to greater knowledge on all of that. However, it will be we
the people who stop the imperialists- or their death will include us all.
