British SWP on Palestine
Somewhere down the post Phil refers to about the
British SWP and Israel/Palestine seems to have gotten
a bit confused. That isn't really surprising. The SWP
have been acting in a contradictory manner.
They still officially hold to their "democratic,
secular Palestine" position - i.e. a one capitalist
state solution. They have noticed though that this
isn't particularly popular amongst some of the guilty
liberals they are trying to sell papers to. So they
are now using a petition which only calls for Israel
out of the occupied territories, something they would
previously have criticised as implicitly accepting the
right of Israel to exist.
The AWL, long-standing opponents of the SWP on this
issue, are using this backsliding to put the boot in.
Of course the AWL's position, for two capitalist
states, isn't any better than that of the SWP.
Is mise le meas
