Re: World Party of Socialist Revolution
Excellent points, LP. I might even add that anarkids might be incipient
socialists. The movement is more important than the party. But a
coordinated organization or organizations are most effective at getting
out the message. Perhaps different parties that concentrate on
different areas of work should be viewed as complementary rather than
competitive. Of course they have to regard themselves that way for
anything positive to happen. One thing that would help is for
individual outfits to avoid rockhard, definitive, unalterable conditions
and announcements, and the denuciation of any tentative or alternative
interpretations as traitorous to the working class and the revolution.
The revolution is destructive, yes, of the old order, absolutely,
terminally, without doubt, but it must be creative too, and that should
be an open process that is accepting and encouraging.
I would one day like to see a collection of stories about how activists
and especially Marxists became radicalized. I don't think it is always
an epiphany/revelation nor an inheritance from red parents. For me it
has been an ongoing process of learning and experience, not always in a
straight and logical line, either. There have been wrenching periods of
doubt, not that the revolution is necessary but that it is even possible
or could happen in time. I have no illusions about capitalism, though.
I suspect we are at an important point in a more public critique of
capitalism. We Marxists should really be "getting out there."
