Just a thought - oops
Oops, I am mistaken, and was a little too hasty, Metz did include the Labor
Party, I thought it was left out. Incidentally, I once wrote a humorous
(though slightly sectarian) critique of the New Zealand Communist Party in
the 1980s (which was then Hoxhaist) with a close friend in which I plotted
extrapolated growth curves for the party membership using various
assumptions, some more realistic and some more fantastic (variables which
could be brought to bear on the problem were subjective factors such as
ideological outlook, behavioural style, propensity to recruit new members,
etc. and objective factors such as changes in the economic growth rate, the
rate of expoitation and level of unemployment, etc. etc.). I regret to say
this sociologically interesting document was abandoned to the gnawing of
the mice and was never recovered - a pity because I would have liked to
revise it in a contemporary setting as a puzzler for aspiring
Marxist-Leninist wannabes.
Cheers
Jurriaan
