The (Capitalist) State

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any good books
on the Marxist theory of the State. I am writing a dissertation and am
interested in Marxist theories that postulate that the Western 'democratic'
State is NECESSARILY the executive committee for the management of the
affairs of the entire bourgeoisie. Of course, there are a million statistics
and such that would show the influence of business on policies, that
business is the real beneficairy of government, that government is composed
of business types, etc. But if people could point me in the direction of any
books which might illuminate the idea that the Democratic (Parliamentary)
State IS an oligarchy by definition, I would be very grateful. Ralph
Miliband's book on the Capitalist State is very good. Are there any more
works of this ilk and calibre? Is there a collection of writings by Marx on
the subject (one of the proposed volumes of Capital was supposed to be on
the subject, but it was never written)?
cheers,
Zak
