Re: Self-determination of imperialist nations too?

I have been following this discussion and am quite surprised by the invective
directed towards Ed George, as well as extreme formulations of positions on
the right of nations to self-determination.

I've been re-reading Lenin on this point. Whether or not one agrees with Ed's
views or his interpretation of Lenin's position, I don't understand why some
people have characterized his posts as being essentially outside Marxist and
Leninist political viewpoints.

In view of Nestor's opposition to granting the right of self-determination to
a list of certain nations and/or states, I paid particular heed to Lenin's
writings on the Norwegian question, and his support of Norwegian
self-determination and independence from Sweden. If Nestor regards himself as
supportive of Lenin's views, then he creates a conundrum -- Marxists _should_
support the right of Norwegians to self-determination up to the point where a
Norwegian state comes into existence; at that point Norwegians forfeit their
right to self-determination.

And thanks to all contributors -- I put down my crime fiction novels and
returned to V.I's Collected Works.
