Claudio Katz and Zamora
To whoever posted the info about Katz and Zamora
(don't have the message in front of me): thanks for
it ...
I already confirmed that he is the one and the same
(Katz) and I will try to make the trip to Canada to
hear him and chat. I knew him a number of years ago.
The organizer of the event contacted me off list and
told me the description was somehow incomplete in the
first of Louis' postings and sent me the complete
version. He told me that they are solely responsible
for any potential misrepresentation of Claudio's
credentials.
Given the fact that Claudio does not speak English
that is a credible reason for me.
On Zamora: he and his party are growing very fast. As
you mentioned, he is very popular. They are preparing
a big event with thousands of people and they had been
organizing branches as fast as they can organize them
(apparently they do not have enough organizers.)
Don't make the mistake of discounting him and his
party. I know a number of his people and they are
capable ones and many workers and unemployed are
looking to join as we speak. I had been approached
already by a number of his sympathizers outside
Argentina to collaborate financially or otherwise
which is unusual for left organizations from Argentina
who usually have no supporters outside the country.
While Zamora introduced a number of democratic
procedures to build the "party from below" that you
may - as some sects do in Argentina - interpret as
"anarchism" nothing could be further from he truth.
Look at his web page and you'll find out their "five
principles" upon which they are organizing:
internationalism, working class government and
socialism are among them.
It is true that many former MAS, PO, MST, CP, Peronist
militants are joining Zamora's party... but what is
wrong with that? Recently, the media publicized the
economic plan of Zamora's party which sounded pretty
good to me: public ownership of main industries,
working class policies, progressive taxation,
expropriation of imperialism and a break with the IMF,
political reforms, government based on elected
Assemblies ...
In many ways, is the kind of party people in this list
would like to see in existence ...
