Green Left Weekly provides news, information, opinion and debate from an
environmental and left perspective.

Featured this week: NO IFS, NO BUTS... END DETENTION OF REFUGEES!

The movement in defence of refugees' right is growing in Australia.
Thousands are expected to demonstrate against the federal government's
treatment of asylum seekers on June 23. As a contribution to the
discussion within the movement, Green Left Weekly is publishing an open
letter that argues that refugees' rights activists should not support
detention of asylum seekers, not even for "minimal periods".
